Squirt

This is Squirt, our tiny kitten.

She's really 6 weeks old...and should be about twice the size of what she is now.

Her eyes are huge and so adorable!  She loves to play, but also loves to be held...over all she loves drinking from the kitten bottle. :)

Sammy - Her Happy and Not So Happy Days

Do you remember when I wrote how Sammy is usually quite grouchy but sometimes she has her good moments?
 ~~~
This is Sammy...when she's happy
Earlier this spring/summer when I'd walk up the driveway to get the mail she would follow me.  Once I got the mail out of the mail box and turn around to go back she would come up to me.  She knew I would pick her up so she would kind of jump into my arms and pull herself onto my shoulders.  Then I'd walk down the driveway with her on my shoulders.
We did this nearly everyday.
Then she would get pregnant and grouchy yet again.  You really didn't want to be around her when close to the time when she would have the kittens.  She had her babies (6) in the end of August.  For some unknown reason she would not feed them, and she had them in all sorts of places (2 in a closet, 3 in a basket that we provided and 1 under the porch during the night).  She totally rejected them, hissing whenever she got near them.  These kittens would have died if it hadn't been for Molly.  She had just had 3 kittens a week earlier so we gave Sammy's kittens to her and she took care of them.  However Molly had an armful of kittens to care for now (6 + 3 = 9), and not all that much milk.  So we bought some kitten formula and the most adorable kitten bottle...
 ...and fed them ourselves.
They loved it!
Because we  bottle fed them for a majority of their meals they are especially gentle and love to be held.
Also, because they were malnourished this little one especially is quite small.  Actually even though this one is a month old it is not much bigger now than in the picture.
Cat Moments
Two Out of Three
We have three cats, but only two are present in this post. Maybe because the third wasn't around, or maybe because I refuse to call her mine. Not that Sammy isn't, or hasn't been apart of our family, she's just very...female (grouchy, mean, grouchy, mean, happy, grouchy, mean, etc.)
Here are the other two however.
Meet Mila
(pronounced "Meelah")
Actually as you can tell she is still only a kitten. She was born earlier this year (in the spring sometime). We were suppose to give her away, but no one took her and then they stopped calling. She's actually one of Sammy's kittens.
Then one day, she ran out in front of our car and got herself run over. We thought for sure she wouldn't make it, especially since she disappeared the next day. Her leg was unusable for the first day, but then she learned to hobble on it. Now she walks perfectly fine, like nothing ever happened. She's as spunky as any ol' kitten...maybe even more so. Because we all thought she was a goner and now she's just fine, we thought to call her Miracle...in Spanish! In Spanish it is milagro. We really didn't like the sound of that, so we shortened it to Mila.
Next we have
Molly
She is now a couple years (at least) and she is also one of Sammy's. I consider Molly mine. She has her grouchy moments, but for the most part is quite happy. :)
She's also very lazy...sitting around all day...yawning.
And almost always has this look of annoyance on her face. Well, she didn't particularly like me sticking the camera in her face, ordering her not to move so much.
Mila is so wild, it was hard to get a picture of her. I can't believe I got this many!
Binder Zoo
On Tuesday we went to Binder Zoo...here's some pictures of some of the amazing creatures that God made!!!A handsome peacock showing off in front of one of the females.
We got as many people on and in the car that we could!
The giraffes amazing, long, blue tongue.
Look at the perfect stripes on the zebra!
A close up of the giraffes spots.
We were able to feed and pet the giraffes...it was so fun to see the kids so excited!
There were three babies born this year. Here are two of them.
Lydia and I stayed together pretty much the whole day.
The wolves were beautiful!
A close up of one of the peacocks. I love the deep blue...and the feathers coming off its head are very interesting.
Aren't God's creatures beautiful, unique and just simply amazing!?
Weekend Happenings
First I'd like to say that sometimes I feel like we actually live on a (very) small farm. With our neighbors cattle behind our house, the chickens, cats and kittens...all we need is a dog and a barn:). The cattle have only been out in this pasture for a few days, but if they are out much longer it will start smelling like a farm around here too.Here are some of the cattle behind our house.
On of our cats (this past winter) scratching on the chicken coop.
Kittens - two weeks old. We have 12 of them.
And some of the chickens.
S'mores Anyone?
Friday evening we grilled some chicken over the fire for supper and then ate around the fire. After we finished we got some marshmallows and roasted those until it started raining and we went inside to eat them.
Ever had peanut butter on your s'more? It is really good!! You must try it next time!
Silver Beach Carousel
Saturday we went to the beach and decided to stop in to see the new (I think it's pretty new anyway) carousel.
Having fun in front of the mirrors. :)
That's us up there, and over there...and everywhere!
Heather and I at the beach.
Looking at the..."thing". I'm not sure what it was.
Heather's lovely blue hat...kind of.
Babies!!!
Molly had three kittens on Saturday/Sunday. And Mom ordered 25 baby chicks (Banties of all kinds). Actually though, we only have 22 (one died on the way over) for some reason. But that's okay because 25 was a lot of chickens anyway (no matter how small they are). I am not sure how we are gonna fit all of them in our chicken coop.
Though the kittens don't smell as bad, and don't make nearly as much noise, the chicks are more playful and fun to watch. : )
A Visit With Some Friends
Monday afternoon we headed down to visit the Bennett's for a few days! It was so good to be able to be with them more then a few hours. Actually we were there from Monday evening to Thursday evening:)! Anyway here's some of the pictures.
Tuesday we spent the day at the Creation Museum. What and awesome place. The gardens were beautiful. Here's a picture of one of the flowers. Heather took this one.
One of the water falls. They had many of these too.
Adam, Cain and Able. I had a picture of Adam in the Garden of Eden but I must have missed it and I am not going to try and upload it.
Cain and Able
Noah's Ark and my dad and Mr. Bennett
The clouds/sun were really pretty on the way home (well to the Bennett's anyway)
We brought a half a bushel of peaches with us to share with the Bennett's. Wednesday morning we pealed and sliced most of them and froze them.
Heather and Sarah
Aaron
When we were finished with the peaches Heather and Sarah played duets on the piano (while I counted out loud for them).
"Sorry" is a game we have played for a very long time with the Bennett's. We play it all the time together. This time we played I think around 8 games while we were there.
Indiana State Fair
I took this of Heather while we were still in the parking lot trying to figure out where to start.
The swine building. Isn't it pretty!?
Read the sign and look at the next picture. (the picture doesn't show how big the thing really is!) Notice the weight it 1,175 pounds
Aaron, Mrs. Bennett, me and Heather
We watched a pig race. it was very interesting. To get the pigs to run they put an oreo cookie at the end.
The Bennett family. Thanks for letting us stay at your home! We had an awesome time!
